When I began teaching at the college level, I had to document my qualifications for the accrediting body. So, I began work on the document that follows. As I remember relevant items, I add them. After all these years, however, I fear many specifics are lost to history.

June, 2004 – March, 2006: Computer Department Chair and Instructor (full faculty appointment), Regional for-Profit Career College, Knoxville, TN

Senior departmental Instructor in computer application courses, including all core components of the Microsoft Office Suite, desktop publishing, Web development, Internet use, Windows end-user functions, keyboarding, administrative office simulation and procedures, and computer networking.

Chair responsibilities – supervised curriculum and programs; administered and peer-taught computer-based and Web-delivered course materials; monitored departmental
compliance with accreditation standards; recommended and implemented curriculum, program, and textbook changes; coordinated curricula with other departments; advised students; supervised internships; recommended, supervised, and evaluated subordinate
faculty; implemented and administered electronic discussion forums for departmental and inter-campus Computer Department Chairs; served on Campus Academic Committee; performed quality reviews on textbooks and specific media; assisted with course scheduling; other administrative functions.

June, 1996 – present: Internet & Intranet Web Developer and Project Manager

Develop, create, maintain, and market interactive Web sites and domains for Internet and intranet implementation. Work with individual, organizational, corporate, and
government entities to procure information and produce topical Web pages. Provide Internet training to clients and community groups. Support dozens of for-profit and non-profit Web sites world-wide. Member of a Knoxville-based volunteer Web development
team for non-profit organizations. Founding member, USGenWeb, American Local History Network, and PAGenWeb Projects. Founding coordinator, TNGenWeb Project.

April, 1994 – present: Networking Consultant, Systems Trainer & Documentation Writer

Support a client base of small business, private industry, and government agency local and wide-area networks on various platforms (primarily Novell and Windows; some UNIX and Linux – no shell programming, limited Exchange). Provide numerous services, including system design and installation, remote administration, on-site and remote technical support, database design and maintenance, production recommendation and specification, bid acquisition, administrator and end-user training, and site-specific written documentation created using Microsoft Office Suite applications.

Highlights include one-year contract as Technology & Training Coordinator for a medium-sized non-profit designing network topology, troubleshooting and managing
Windows 2000 network with three training labs, assessing adult students, and training end-user hardware, software, and network management; 18-month contract to design and deploy training labs for senior citizens’ centers in East Tennessee; coordination of regional seminar for Computer Technology Centers and provider of ancillary services once regional consortium was formed.

April, 1994 – present: Special-Interest Author, Researcher, Consultant, Speaker, Instructor

Develop, create, and present information to market East Tennessee history, tourism, and culture in print, multi-media, and lecture formats using desktop publishing and
multimedia software and digital imaging hardware. Research and prepare proposals on various topics for presentation to corporate and governmental entities. Work with individuals, organizations, and government representatives to promulgate information and
interest in local communities.

March, 1993 – June, 1994: Systems Manager

Managed and administered Novell NetWare-based wide-area network, consisting of six local-area Ethernet networks, comprising nine servers, using full T-1 and dial-up modem communications for 200 users. Evaluated, specified, purchased, installed, documented, troubleshot, and maintained hardware and software components; served as vendor liaison. Managed and performed end-user support and training on hardware, system, and application software. Designed and implemented hardware and software solutions to end-user problems. Designed and authored protocols, documentation, end-user manuals, and training materials using various applications.

June, 1991 – present: Litigation Support Consultant

Perform a variety of automated litigation support services for civil litigation firms engaged in family law, contract, commercial, employment, civil rights, personal injury, and products liability representation. Provide legal assistant services on a contract basis. Specific automation activities include the following: perform needs analyses, automation planning, procedural development; develop and implement case management, conflict-of-interest, and records management systems; hardware and software selection, development, integration, and end-user or administrator training; technical specifications development and review; technical support (remote administration, telephone, and in-person); technical writing using various software applications.

July, 1989 – June, 1991: Senior Legal Consultant

Performed needs analyses; designed databases; managed database creation projects; designed and implemented automation systems; performed subjective and objective
document analysis and abstraction; designed training materials and end-user documentation; trained litigation attorneys and support staffs in document management; advised litigation teams on strategic research methodology for document indices; provided
telephone and in-person technical support for time-share retrieval systems, modem communications, document imaging systems, and various software applications. Served on project team that designed, deployed, and marketed one of the first digital records
management systems available in the U. S.

September, 1985 – June, 1989: Civil Practice Legal Assistant

Complex litigation management emphasis. Lead paralegal on multi-million dollar Bank Director and Officer Liability litigation. Assisted in instituting regionalization of defense of corporate client’s products’ liability suits nationwide; primary legal assistant responsible for establishing a repository for approximately 1,000,000 pages of documents. Managed document productions; drafted 100+-page pleadings for protracted and complex corporate litigation. Performed initial design of major corporate clients’ document databases; responsible for database creation, management, and quality control. Opened, organized, and summarized files; interviewed clients; performed legal research and investigation. Managed computer systems. Authored procedural manuals. Trained staff attorneys; trained and supervised clerical and support staff.

January, 1984 – present: Instructor, East and Middle Tennessee-area Colleges, Universities, and Private Training Facilities

Credit and Non-credit Internet, Paralegal, History, and Computer Hardware and Software courses. Additional adult education experience in Elderhostel programs, senior center
computer labs, and workforce development grant-funded computer applications training program.

1970 – present: Writer, Editor, Publisher, Publication Design Consultant

Extensive experience, beginning with community organization newsletter editorship and editorship of high school newspaper through editorial consulting on theses and
dissertations and current work as publication design consultant and editor for a 1200-page volume of historical research. See list of selected awards and publications below.
